A PROCLAMA TION TORA TIFY THE STOCKHOLM

CONVENTION ON PERSISTENT ORGANIC
POLLUTANTS

WHEREAS, the Stocholm Convention on Persistent
OrganicPollutantswas adoptedon the 220dday of May,2001;

WHEREAS,the Houseof Peoples' Representativesof the
Federal ;DemocraticRepublic of Ethiopia has ratified said
conventionat its session held on the 2ndday of July, 2002;

NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with Articles 55(1)
and (12) of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic
Republic of Ethiopia,it is hereby proclaimed as follows:

1. Short Title
This proclamation may be cited as "the Stockholm
Conventionon PersistentOrganicPollutantsRatification
ProclamationNo. 27912002".

2. Ratificationof the Convention
The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic
Pollutants, adopted on the 22ndday of May, 2001, is
ratified.

3. Responsibility of the Environmental Protection
Authority

The Environmental Protection Authority is hereby
authorized to take, in cooperation with the appropriate
Federal, Regional and City Administrationgovernment
organs, actions necessaryto implementthe Convention.

4. Effective Date
This Proclamation shall enter into force as of the 2ndday
July of 2002.

Done at Addis Ababa, this 2ndday of July, 2002.

A PROCLAMATION TO RATIFY THE STOCKHOLM
CONVENTION ON PERSISTENT ORGANIC
POLLUTANTS

WHEREAS, the Stocholm Convention on Persistent
Organic Pollutants was adopted on the 22" day of May, 2001;

WHEREAS, the House of Peoples’ Representatives of the
Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has ratified said
convention at its session held on the 2" day of July, 2002;

NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with Articles 55(1)
and (12) of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic
Republic of Ethiopia, it is hereby proclaimed as follows:
